Boy Scout Troop Receives Share the Excellence Award
Madison School District names Boy Scout Troop 329 the recipient of prestigious award
PHOENIX, Ariz, (June 17, 2009) - Jennings Haug Cunningham is pleased to announce that Boy Scout Troop 329 in North Central Phoenix, led by Troop Leader Chad Schexnayder, who is a Senior Partner with the law firm, recently received the Share the Excellence Award from the Madison School District for the troop's contributions to schools and students throughout the district. Schexnayder, who has been involved with Boy Scouts since his childhood, has served in a leadership role with the Troop since 1998 and received the award on behalf of the troop with the troop's boy leaders from the District's Governing Board.
Since 1959, Boy Scout Troop 329 has been a part of Madison Meadows Middle School. The troop dedicates numerous hours to volunteer projects at schools including Madison Meadows Middle School, Madison Number One Elementary, Camelview Elementary, Madison Rose Lane Elementary, Madison Traditional Academy and Madison Simis Elementary.
Each project advocates a friendly environment for learning; such projects include hummingbird gardens, bat habitats, vegetable gardens, butterfly gardens and the donation of library books. The troop's most recent project helped build a reading garden for the students at Madison Simis Elementary. The young men of Troop 329 planted a tree and shrubs, laid brick pavers and placed benches and flower pots throughout the area. The troop's efforts have given students who attend those schools an enjoyable learning environment.
As a Scoutmaster, Schexnayder works with the young men to instill leadership and personal achievement by giving back to the community. The Share the Excellence award is the highest honor given out by Madison School District.
